Class 9 of the Fish and Wildlife Commission

Last week I had the privilege of attending the 9th class to graduate the Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) in Tallahassee, FL. What made this event even more special was that a family member was joining the ranks to help conserve Florida's natural habitat and protect its citizens.

In watching some of the training videos, this isn't your "daddy's" law enforcement. These men and women endured some of the most brutal training scenarios, physical and mental, that one could imagine. Now, these new officers will take their training and help preserve one of Florida's most precious resource, it's wildlife.

Congratulations Class 9!

New FWC Officers

On August 16, 2007, thirty-four Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers will graduate from the FWC's law enforcement academy. Through rigourous training, both classroom and physical, these men and women have trained hard for this date. These new officers will help protect and manage the balance of land between residents and wildlife.

These officers deserve a great deal of respect for their work in enforcing the rules and protecting our wildlife and waterways.

Congratulations to all of you.

Site Update!

Well folks, I'm up in Atlanta, GA for the weekend...did some trout fishing on the Chattahoochee River. I also managed to find time to work on the website during a nice Atlanta style thunderstorm.

Now, you will be able to browse through a complete collection of fishing items from the tacklebox. Here, you will find all fishing items presented in a neat and orderly fashion. Each fishing item is placed under a specific category to make navigation easier.

Tomorrow, I'm off to tackle the Stone Mountain Lake....

Kids Fishing Clinic

A one-day Kids Fishing clinic, sponsored by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, will take place Saturday, June 16, 2007 in Fernandina Beach, FL. These Kids Fishing clinics have been established with the goal of teaching conservation and basic fishing methods.

Dads, this is the day before Father's Day. Bring your kids to the fishing clinic and you just may have a fishing partner for life.

For more information about the Kids Fishing clinic, contact the Marine Fisheries Outreach and Education office at (850)488-6058.

Father's Day is next week!

Hey Fishing Geeks, Father's day is coming up next week and what a perfect time to take the ol' dad out fishing. Dad's, if your son is too young to take you out, how about taking them out fishing. What a great time to teach your son or daughters fishing ethics or basic fishing tips. You'll get the enjoyment of fishing and spending time with your child.

Hello Fishing Geeks!

This is an exciting time for us at FishingGeek.net. after many months of work and research, we have finally gone live. We have compiled a lot of good resources for those that love to fish. One feature that we really wanted to get into the website was the ability for other anglers to communicate and share with each other. With that, we've added what we call the Brag Spot as a fishing forum for everbody to particapate in.

Please bear with us while we go through our growing pains with the new website. Eventually, we will be adding equpiment reviews, shopping and more and more fishing articles.

If you'd like to current with any new articles that we submit, go ahead and subscribe to our RSS feeds.
